Jun OSATO was born in Tokyo in 1994. Focusing on contemporary urban consumer behavior and labor from the perspective of those directly engaged in them, he transforms institutionally designed and managed services, products, digital media, and bodily gestures into forms of absurd humor.
While his works often take the form of video, in recent years he has also presented performances. His production and presentations have taken place in urban spaces such as McDonald’s seating areas, convenience store self-checkout counters, streets, and public parks.
Major exhibitions include OUROBOROS (2024, TAV Gallery, Tokyo) and the group exhibition About Validity (2023, EASTEAST_, Science Museum, Tokyo). He received a travel grant for overseas research as part of the CAF Award 2021.
